Dental Treatment Abroad for Canadian Patients

When comprehensive dental restoration is not covered by your provincial plan or the federal dental plan, you can have your full treatment carried out at a dental clinic abroad, with your entire journey coordinated from Toronto.

Why do Canadians consider dental treatment abroad?

Provincial health plans (OHIP, MSP, and their equivalents) do not cover routine or elective dental care, including implants. The federal Canadian Dental Care Plan, even for those who are eligible, excludes dental implants and all implant-based restoration. Comprehensive implant-based and full-arch restoration is therefore paid privately in Canada regardless of plan.

About one third of Canadians have no dental insurance. For people who need extensive work, such as multiple implants, full-arch restoration, or bone grafting before implants, treatment at a dental clinic abroad is one way to complete the whole plan with a single coordinated team. It applies to planned, elective treatment that can be arranged in advance, not to emergencies.

How dental treatment abroad works for Canadians

Dental treatment abroad follows a clear path: you share your panoramic x-ray and photos of your teeth, we match you with a dental clinic and dentist, you meet the treating dentist in a free online consultation, and then we coordinate the clinic, travel, accommodation, and follow-up after you return. Maple Med Global is a coordination service; the dental care is provided by the clinic and its clinicians, who hold clinical responsibility for your treatment.

Treatment abroad is private and paid directly by you. The quote sets out what is and is not included. Many of the clinics we work with include items such as accommodation, airport transfers, interpreter support, and any post-treatment medication in their treatment packages. Payment is usually arranged across your treatment, for example part on the first visit and the balance on the second. If you prefer not to pay all at once, instalment financing is also available through third-party providers.

  • Share your panoramic x-ray and clear photos of your smile, bite, and each arch, following the simple guide we will send you (4 to 6 photos)

  • We match you with a dental clinic suited to your case

  • A free online consultation with the treating dentist

  • A clear quote showing what is included

  • Coordination of the clinic, flights, and accommodation

  • Follow-up support after you return to Canada

Dental treatments we coordinate

Replacing one or more missing teeth with titanium implants and fixed crowns, for single teeth, several teeth, and more complex cases.

Full-mouth reconstruction (All-on-4, All-on-6)

Rebuilding one or both jaws with a fixed, full set of teeth supported by four or six implants, for advanced tooth loss or widespread damage.

Crowns and veneers

Restoring broken, root-treated, or worn teeth with durable fixed work, planned around function and a natural appearance.

Bone graft and sinus lift

Preparing the jaw for implants when bone height or volume is insufficient.

Full smile rehabilitation

A comprehensive plan that combines implants, crowns, and bridges to restore both the function and the appearance of your teeth. The clinics we work with use internationally recognized implant systems such as Straumann and Nobel, and techniques that include computer-guided (planned) implant placement and same-day fixed temporary teeth where the case allows.

How we choose your dental clinic and team

We select the clinic in every case on these criteria: the clinic's experience and case volume in implant and restorative dentistry, the treating dentist's experience with your procedure, and an international patient department with English-language support. The clinics we work with are licensed clinics that hold the approvals required to treat international patients, including a national health authority medical licence and international health tourism authorization, along with recognized quality and data protection standards such as ISO certification and GDPR-level data protection.

The clinics use internationally recognized implant systems such as Straumann and Nobel. We also consider the clinic's record with previous international patients, and we can share patient reviews and references with you on request. We share the clinic we recommend, with the dentist's name and professional background, before any commitment. If you want to compare, you can ask for more than one option.

Where do Canadians most commonly travel for dental treatment?

For patients in North America, the most common destination is Mexico, owing to its proximity and its established dental sector. Other countries Canadians commonly choose for dental treatment include Turkey and Costa Rica. The right destination depends on both your case and your priorities, such as expertise, language, timing, and travel preference. Maple Med Global coordinates treatment at selected dental clinics in these countries, and all the countries we work with are listed on our Destinations page.
